Color theory is the study of the relationships between colors. It encompasses the concepts of:

  • Color Wheel: A circular diagram that organizes colors based on their hue, value, and saturation.
  • Primary Colors: Red, yellow, and blue – the foundation of all other colors.
  • Secondary Colors: Green, orange, and violet – created by mixing two primary colors.
  • Tertiary Colors: Yellow-green, blue-green, red-violet, etc. – created by mixing a primary color with a secondary color.
  • Complimentary Colors: Colors opposite each other on the color wheel, which create a high contrast when paired.
  • Analogous Colors: Colors adjacent to each other on the color wheel, which create a harmonious effect.
